Steve Varney

Owner and President

Steve started Sundance in 1989, and oversees all corporate responsibilities, including construction management, project  management, finance, human resources and estimating. His commercial construction career spans

more than four decades, during which he has built for multiple Fortune 500 companies, including Coca Cola, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Wells Fargo, and McDonalds.

Steve has received many accolades throughout his career, most recently the “Community Builder Award,” which is given to an individual who has shown Distinguished Service and Personal Contributions to the Community of Sugar Land, Texas.  He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Sugar Land  for over 20 years, serving as President of the Club in 2005-06. He was also selected as Rotarian of the Year in 1997-98. In addition, he  serves on the Board of Directors  for the Jackie Spellman Scholarship Foundation.

John Roberts

Vice President of Construction

With more than 40 years of experience in the construction business, John has served with Sundance for the past 25 years and oversees all construction jobs as well as supervising the project management team. Prior to joining Sundance, John was the Co-Owner and Managing Partner of a successful drywall company.

John a played a significant role in Sundance’s success over the years, and has managed and built more than 200 Walgreens stores - representing greater than 25% of the store fleet in Texas.  Prior to his construction career, John served in the US Army with the rank of Sergeant.

Craig Varney

Business Development

Craig Varney is a Houston native and in 2008 graduated from Baylor University. After college, he leaped into Real Estate Development gaining valuable experience with BPI Realty Services.  Prior to joining Sundance Construction Craig was the Vice President of Retail Services for Transwestern in Houston. Through the first six years in the development business, Craig managed more 1,000,000 Sq. Ft. of new retail development.  He brings to Sundance a wealth of relationships with everyone from Developers to National Retailers.

Craig holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Baylor. He is a lifetime member of the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo and serves on the Board for the Jackie Spellman Scholarship Foundation.

Ben Clements

Estimating

Ben brings a wealth of Project Management, Finance, IT, and Corporate Strategy expertise to Sundance Construction.  After working for Kellogg Brown and Root’s Project Controls group specializing in Cost Control, Estimating, Planning and Scheduling, and Risk Management, Ben spent time as a Management Consultant in the Oil and Gas, Oilfield Services, Industrial, and Retail industries.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.  He is a lifetime member of the Texas Exes and previously served as a Director for 5th and Lamar, Inc.
